The Los Angeles Times says some bloggers are upset with Google because it chose to recognize the 50th anniversary of the launch of Sputnik, but has yet to redraw its logo for holidays that honor American veterans or military personnel. (Here's the Sputnik logo. Here's a page with user-created logos honoring American military personnel. Some of them are really cool.)
This blog has a collection of what it deems that best Google Doodles. Here's an interview with Dennis Hwang, the man who designs the doodles.
