Clinton Hashes Out Health Plan

clipped from blogs.wsj.com

Hillary Clinton is talking health today with a bunch of journalists including the WSJ’s Laura Meckler. Click here to watch the video feed.

Look for Clinton to use the word “choice” or “choose” a lot. She calls her proposal the “American Health Choices Plan.” Some Washington wags have suggested the name shows the lessons/scars of the failed plan she pushed during Bill’s presidency — that plan was unpopular because many believed it would restrict their choice of insurers or doctors.

The new plan includes tax credits for insurance to encourage enrollment (popular among Republicans) and would give people the option of enrolling in public insurance programs (popular among Democrats). Her plan would also require insurance companies to “offer and renew coverage to anyone who applies and pays their premium.”
