The Cotton family of Marysville, Ohio, will have “one big bash” next Oct. 2, Jenna Cotton tells me. Her daughter, Kayla Cotton, will be celebrating her first birthday on that day. Kayla’s brother Logan will turn two. And the big brother of the family, Ayden, will be turning four.
Ms. Cotton’s triple birthday play was a 7.5-in-a-million shot, or one in 133,000, Ohio State statistician William Notz told the Columbus Dispatch. The estimate was also picked up by the Associated Press. (Numbers Guy reader Gary Hewitt saw the stat and suggested I look into it.)
Further reading: I wrote recently about the likelihood of a woman giving birth to triplets, twice, without fertility aids.
